Uncovered from the ocean floor, forgotten for centuries, we discover treasures from history. This cross pays homage to the Atocha shipwreck and the magnificent crosses discovered. Much like the 17th-century Spanish crosses, the one featured here shows off the beauty of Muzo Emeralds and reminds us of the enduring legacy and importance this mine holds in history.
The cross shown highlights four baroque Muzo Emeralds set at the ends of each arm. The space within is filled with a silken surface made up of hundreds of gold granules. The play of granule sizes creates movement across the surface. One simply spins the cross to reveal the reverse, a simpler face, with a refined frame of granules. The feature is the smooth reflective surface below. 22k yellow gold.
