SUMMER READING

Summer is my favorite season because generally at Loren Nicole things slow down a bit and I have time to study and improve upon my goldsmithing skills, but I more importantly I have time to read every morning! What better way to soak up the summer sun in the morning, than sitting outside with a book and a cup of tea.

  1. STONED by Aja Raden : A wonderful adventure through the history of jewels and gemstones and how they have shaped our world .

  2. THE LANGUAGE OF FLOWERS by Vanessa Diffenbaugh : I read this book several years ago, not realizing when I picked it up, that it was a novel. To my pleasant surprise, I discovered a story I fell in love with and I think it is about time to re-read it. It is a beautiful coming of age story of a girl in foster care centered on communicating through flowers.

  3. NORSE MYTHOLOGY by Neil Gaiman : I am a sucker for mythology stories. It doesn’t matter the culture, I just love them. Thor, Loki and Asgard are at the center of some of my absolute favorite mythologies. I have a feeling this is going to be a tough book to put down!

  4. A LITTLE HISTORY OF THE WORLD by E. H. Gombrich : A very compact history from early man to the present era, but told in a relatable way, focused on the people.

  5. THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST by Oscar Wilde : Since a teen, I don’t think I’ve made it more than two years without revisiting this story. It is an easy weekend read, full of humor and irony. It always lifts my mood. I love Oscar Wilde’s work and this is my absolute favorite.
